Why Edouard Mendy was angry with Hakim Ziyech as mastermind behind Chelsea's winner is revealed

Chelsea took a huge step to booking their place in the Champions League knockout stage by defeating Malmo 1-0 thanks to a Hakim Ziyech goal.

Chelsea's tactical mastermind revealed

There are Champions League  games that live long in the memory. Classic encounters which are recounted with glee by those fortunate enough to witness them. Malmo versus Chelsea was not one of these matches.

The performance from the Blues was fine, good enough. Thomas Tuchel's 's side dominated the ball, created several chances, but were often let down by poor finishing.

Malmo deserve credit too. A fortnight ago at Stamford Bridge, they folded when put under the slightest pressure. That was not the case last night, perhaps because they were playing in front of a full stadium for the first time in two years.

All the credit has to go to my assistant [Arno Michels], he came up with the idea," Tuchel said. "We liked it to have two right-footed players on the right side and two left-footed on the left side.

"We had the feeling that maybe we could enter into the spaces behind Malmo’s low block that we maybe lose important seconds if they have to switch the ball back onto their strong foot, then their No.8s were closing spaces.
